Playlist of My Life

Our life is a lot like a playlist. As the days pass on, life plays us a different song. If I find a new song that I really like, I won't be listening to anything else for the entire week. I will glue to it until it starts to annoy me. Of course, there are some that I'm still stuck with. Those just never grow old. If you feel like Sal doing the Double Dutch when you listen to 'Feel It Still' by Portugal Man, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Anyways, I had an idea of sharing the playlist of my life for quite some time. This is not the exact list of all my favorites because my playlist changes according to my mood. So I made sure that while doing this, I was in a state of Nirvana (I guess?). Hope your playlist won't mind an update, so here it goes... :3

(10) Power is Power - Travis Scott, The Weeknd, SZA

Let me break something to you at this point. I have never watched Game Of Thrones (though I'm planning to do it ASAP). While this series seemed to set a worldwide wave with its final season, I was too busy watching The Big Bang Theory. I'm just into sitcoms a lot nowadays because there isn't much going on in my life lately.

Anyways, this song was featured in GOT and I only came to know about it because of VH1. I think the vocals done by the three of them are really good and absolutely worth listening to. I chose this one because the song's lyrics are very catchy and hold a powerful intention. The beats, bass and everything blend-in really well with the chorus as well as rest of the parts. Basically, I think it's a cool song that has a nice edge to it too. Try checking it out if you haven't already!

(9) Once in a Lifetime - One Direction

I actually listened to this one for the first time, only a few days ago. I think I fell for this song in the first play itself. The most beautiful thing about this song is the swift change in tunes, from high to low and everything in between. The song is a simple yet a very beautiful one. That's because of the perfect work of harmonic vocals (which is truly amazing here), the meaning behind the words and the fact that there's basically a piano, guitars and five guys doing it.

This song worked like magic to my ears, right from the start. This playlist would be incomplete without it. There are in fact many other 1D songs I love but this one definitely captured me. Go ahead and listen to it if you haven't. It's just beautiful.

(8) Meant to Be - Bebe Rexha ft. Florida Georgia Line

First of all, a moment of silence to adore Bebe's beauty, please! *_*

Okay now, I like this song a lot because it flows out with a really good vibe. You can sort of "lay on your back and relax" while grooving to this tune on your car's radio or anywhere else. Sure, you can "kick your pretty feet up" too and I don't think I need to explain why.

Well, you'll never know until you hear it! Going out on a long drive, feeling low, sucking up to life's boredom - you name it - this song's for you. At least, it is that way for me. Bebe and Florida's voices sound really good together. That pops out in this song really well. It's not preachy or depressing or mushy in any way. It is absolutely easy-going and fun. Do give it a shot if you haven't!

(7) Locked Away - R.City ft. Maroon5

Coming to the 7th song, this one's a little heavy. It is about the idea of 'genuine love'. What it means is that the song talks about the dark side of love. Every good thing comes with a cost, afterall. 'Locked Away' asks the listener if they really dare to go all the way when it comes to commitment.

I think this song is an important one. Music wise, it is pretty damn good. But why I actually chose it is because the lyrics speak volumes, even greater than the music itself. This song is more or less a wake-up call by the realists for the dreamers, that true love is not found; it is built.

(6) Hear You Me - Jimmy Eat World

Ah, this song has always been my lullaby on a sleepless night. I found it right before the ending of the movie 'A Cinderella Story' (starring Hillary Duff, Chad Kroeger). This is the kind of song I'd share a slow dance to.

No matter why I can't fall asleep, listening to it brings me to peace. That is one of the reasons why it is so special to me. Not a lot of songs can do that, at least not to me. I don't know what more to say about it because the song shows you everything for itself. If you're looking for a really peaceful song that can doze you off nice and quick, this song might be the one for you.

(5) Photograph - Ed Sheeran

What I love the most about Ed Sheeran is that he can conquer the entire stage with just a guitar and his voice. There is no showmanship in his personality and he's one of the sweetest people on Earth. Most of his songs are very relatable and that helps to build the connection between the listener and Ed, on a deeper level.

This song is one that's quite close to my heart and means a great deal to me. It's a simple song made out of just a guitar and his voice, again. 'Photograph' describes the brighter side of love (unlike 'Locked Away'). I can connect to this song every time I listen to it and I think, you can feel something quite similar, once you hear it out. It makes us remember the time when we were younger and didn't know what love is all about. There's just something awfully sweet about this song, which is why I can never get enough of it.

(4) IDGAF - Dua Lipa

As the name suggests, this song is totally a badass one. It's one of those girl power anthems that is a perfect kick below-the-belt for all the disloyal exes you might have out there. The brutal lyrics is what I love the most about it.

Dua Lipa can be savage sometimes and she makes sure we know it, through this song. I admire her because I think she's a great role model for a brave, strong and confident woman. She's definitely one of the boldest girls I've seen so far.

To put it in basic words, this song is a way of showing the finger, without actually showing it.

(3) Consequences - Camila Cabello

Have you ever come across a song that makes you cry? Well, maybe you have, once. But every time I listen to this one, there's just waterworks flowing out hysterically. That's right, every single time! That's why I try to avoid playing this song nowadays, whether on my player or in my head. But don't get me wrong! It is a really beautiful song.

A sad song usually doesn't affect you that much if you can't relate to it. For me, this one is important because it means a lot to me. Speaking of 'Consequences', it is yet another song made by a girl on her piano, which talks about the aftermath of a broken heart. I love Camila's voice in all of her songs and this one is no exception.

Eventhough the song is sad, I find it a little comforting because it feels like she knows exactly what I went through. That can help a lot, especially if you don't want to talk about it to anyone, just because it is a lot to take in for yourself. But it does give you a hope that if you're going through something, you're not alone, and that there are ways to fix everything.

(2) 2002 - Anne Marie

Moving on, Anne Marie takes over the 2nd place on the Playlist of My Life. I remember once, a guy sitting behind me during a test actually singing it for half the time. While I was using all my might to try not to crack up and laugh in the middle of a dead-silent test, that guy was just killing it (sarcasm, maybe?).

This song is loaded with fun, to say the least! This is one of my all-time favorites and it never grows old. You must've heard it by now but if you haven't, do check it out ASAP. This song is very close to the life of the party and once she starts singing, "Dancing on the hood in the middle of the woods, on my old Mustang, where we sang..." you can't resist yourself from dancing. So watch out, for there are involuntary headbangs coming up.

(1) Nightmare - Halsey

The ultimate girl power anthem, that we've all been waiting for, is finally here! Now, this song might not be a big one on the charts but it surely is a very important one for Halsey. She's been through a lot but no matter how many times life knocked her down, she always found a reason to stand back up and rose to become stronger than before.

This song definitely deserves to be on the top of my list this time because I think it is a very powerful way to respond to all those haters out there, objectifying women and treating them like toys to play with. I've lost count of how many times I listened to it till now but I'm sure it's going to play for a really long time. If you haven't heard it already, make sure you do so and let me know what you think!

So, what's the Playlist of your Life?
